40'' Tires wanted. Lift kit needed?

I have a 1994 ford Bronco (Edie) and I want it look and feel and preform more beastly. Do I need a lift kit for 40 inch tires? If so, what height? And if you have any ideas for cheap beastly tires please feel free to letme know. thanks!
