Has wildlife suffered a decline since world war two?

For some species, yes, their populations have declined as habitat is destroyed to accommodate the growing population. Urban sprawl is likely the biggest contributor. However, some species have found these environs favorable and taken advantage of the "safety" now that some predators are gone, think deer. Others love the "free" food in garbage that is readily available, think possums and raccoons.
