I am put together a roadcase and want to make it of clear 3/8 lexan,would this case be twice as heavy as wood>?

---> using the same dimensions---about 23x43 and about 11' deep. I fig. 3/8 on the lexan is prob. about right for travel,although 1/4 might work?-(and be a little lighter) the lexan would/will be fastened with standard alluminum case hardware and pop-rivets,with the various synth modules and units fastened to inner,hinged grids on the bottom and top inside lid.Thanks in advance....;-)
