As I am hearing about our last prophet was illitreate..?

As I am hearing about our last prophet Muhammad pbuh..He was illiterate ( I am a student and wann knw what is real truth) bcz if he was illiterate then how he can ask us to get education or as i read in hadis... I am city of knowledge..what is rite meaning of OMMI.
