I am Very Confused ?

I am very confused! My parents are atheists I have no idea about relligion or what I want to believe. This sounds totaly bizare but in our ap euro cl we learned about enlightenment belief of deism- god created the world- it now runs on its own and he is out of the picture- like newtonian new world machine. Is that a faith today?
